This article is very enlightening. However, I don't think animals, even intelligent monkeys should be granted the same equal protection under the laws as human beings. At the end of the day they are still animals so I don't think the same laws should apply to them. Also, I don't see an alternative to animals testing. I believe animal testing is a necessity because it helps further advance and develop things in the areas of genetics, biology, and drug testing. Lastly, relocating the chimpanzees from Stony Brook to another area would still be equivalent because they would still be confined in some type of environment. Relocating them to another place still wouldn't give them freedom like humans have.
